Metal Madness
There was a time, early in the existence of the GTT Universe when it was lawless. At that time, the GTT gods trusted that users would control themselves. Then the Calm Dread Lord Crono came. He loved calm music and imposed his will on all. At first, it was a trickle, and eventually it was an unstoppable flood of calm tunes. Rules were placed to slow it down, but Crono was a shrewd calculating foe. He had the timing memorized to continue to torrent of calm. Could anyone stand up against the wall of calm.
When all despaired and it seemed all hope was lost, a hero emerged from the hellish darkness to fight the calm menace. Major_Rae stormed into the scene. At first he knew not why he was called into existence. He thought it was to enjoy music. It eventually became clear to him that the people needed a champion. He began by requesting metal songs to interrupt the flow of calm. Soon, others joined as they heard the call of metal pulse pounding music. He became the self proclaimed Metal VGM Overlord and Hero of the People.
Though it ultimately didn’t stop Crono’s climb to 1 million points, Crono ran out of steam and has for now taken a step back to see what the will of the gods’ was. He was blessed with “mod” powers which made the battlefield uneven. In a shocking display of restraint, Crono has not lashed out against the metal. Though likely it is because troll songs were a bane to all. Only time will tell, as one truth in the GTT Universe is eternal. There is always a constant struggle between Calm and Metal that has and will continue to cause untold chaos on the GTT Universe.
Cleansing Calm
In the early days of GTT there was a chaos of sorts. The music being played was similar and constant. Most of the visiting denizens of the GTT universe had an untold love of Persona, Megalovania, or they loved to Dance Mad. Even the GTT gods themselves enjoyed a sameness at times and constant call on a group of Burning Rangers or enjoyed a good Samba de Amigo. In these early times there were fewer restrictions on what was allowed in the GTT universe and the repetitiveness of it all began to show.
Crono realized the universe needed something new and different. He experimented with "blocks" and "themes" to get new music played and discovered. In the end this failed as many were content to just Dance Mad or enjoy an Undertale. Crono decided a calm was needed. Thus he began to scour the lists for various calming tunes to sooth visitors and himself and dull the chaos of everyday life and create a true musical oasis. As time went on his list continued to grow so much that an entire day of work would be quelled by what was now known as the Calm Block. Even other visitors soon began to join and emulate Crono and the queuing or relaxing calm music. To his great delight other users became mainstays such as Wildarms Fan and Muddle MADness created their own waves of calming tunes.
However, as time passed new visitors began to emerge and repel against the calmness. Most prolific among them a being known as Raeanus. This individual's sole purpose appeared to be to disrupt the Calming tunes with waves of metal and rock video game music. The disruption sometimes would be so chaotic that Crono was forced to "go into the past" and rewind the stream to more calming music. After a time Crono decided he must challenge with even more calm tracks thereby beginning the Metal-Calm Wars. The following times were days of the mostly Calm tunes and the most Metal tracks. Raeanus during this time claimed the title of the Metal VGM Overlord and gained many followers including Taylor Y, Mork, and Carlos S. Weiner, to help in his Metal madness. The two sides battled constantly against each other only coming together in rare moments to battle evil trolls that lurked in from the darkness to bring dismay and discontent to the GTT universe.
After a time however Crono began to realize the war was taking a heavy toll. Week upon week the GTT Gods continued to bless the GTT Universe with new music however it was barely heard due to the constant struggle to only find the most calm and metal themes to use as ammunition in the war. Crono decided it was time to for a new method. It was at this time he was growing ever closer to reaching a wondrous achievement of one million points of song requests. He decided that he would play the original Calm Block one last time as he approached the achievement in was he would call the Calm Countdown, a top 50 countdown of the most magnificent calming music that he had shared with the GTT universe. Crono played 10 each day until on the last day the Great GTT God John H? blessed godly powers upon Crono to allow the final 10 of the Calm Countdown to be played in succession. A magnificent event even birthing a "Will Party" in honor of the GIF always summoned by Crono during the playing of the #1 song of the Calm Countdown - Satorl Marsh Nights or simply "Sator Nights".
Afterwards the gods in thier great wisdom saw fit to leave Crono with the godly powers granted to him for the countdown, which he uses to this day to assist the gods in maintaining the GTT universe so it can be enjoyed by all. Crono decided that the Calm Block had served its purpose and thusly retired it. Raeanus angered and devastated by these events departed for a time but returned as Major_Rae vowing to keep Metal alive and rocking for as long as possible and still battles the calm to this day. While Crono no longer summons the calm themes with the zeal and vigor he once used, he still works to keep a semblance of the calm themes going in the universe and to ensure that the music stays perfectly balanced. The Metal-Calm Wars still exist in some form, however Crono is content as he believes for now the war is exactly as it should be...calmed.
